In reference to grass, Walt Whitman wrote, "and now it seems to me the beautiful uncut hair of graves." In this piece the tower stands old and decrepit; a glimpse into a far away time. The brothers run to it as children do, full of imagination and life. But the elder of the three stops to pause, and reflect on how this tower has come to be in the broken shape that they have discovered it in. He stands in the tall uncut grass, the uncut hair of the graves of the men who may have died here long ago.
