I wanted to show Medusa in a different way than she has been done in the past. Many artists have tried their hand at painting and drawing her most have portrayed her as a monster who hides in the dark shadows. However, I wanted to show her as being cruel and sadistic, but also refined and beautiful. Note the stone man who has become her torch, as well as the hand of another victim in the water in front of her. She uses them as decoration for her well lit layer, where she enjoys a glass of wine, and some bread. Even a book that she probably collected from one of her victims.
